Dare to go Short?

Sunday, February 14, 2010

From Parkway South to Vis or St. Joe, St. Louis Prom night is usually a sea of long flowing gowns. Usually short dresses are worn at homecoming and other events. But fashion forward divas know that short is sexy and sassy. If you have great legs why not show them off in a flirty short dress?

Terani Prom has some great selections. Terani Prom 95191 has a sweatheart next line and lots of bling. Shown here in white, this flirty number looks great on most figures because it flares out at the waist.

Terani 95172 shown here in light blue is for the flower fanatic. This fun dress is soft and feminie. With the banded waistline you'll get that hour glass look that we all envy.

Jovani's hot pink and orange 14318, Faviana's violet and blue 6589 or their burgandy 6584 all have the flair shirt and chiffon layering. In a few short years you wouldn't be able to pull off this look. It's a combination of innocents, fun and flirty with undertones of sexy all rolled into one. What ever you decide to wear at your St. Louis Prom select a dress that makes you feel great. Not sure what style to select -- come into our store and try them all on!

Golden Globes Fashion To St. Louis Prom

Thursday, February 11, 2010

What does the Golden Globes have to do with St. Louis Prom? Fashion of course. The Golden Globes is the start of the “awards” season for the year and it’s a great place to see what the stars are wearing. Each year we see the best and worst dress stars. Take notes here for your Prom fashion tips. Let’s look at some of the best dressed and how you can get the best dress for your St. Louis Prom night.

Lea Michele looks fabulous in a black strapless Oscar de la Renta gown. Very dramatic looking. For a similar look try Jovani’s style number 141216, shown here in white. Or take a look at Jovani’s 152055. Shown here in orange this dress can make the same statement. With this color you’ll certainly stand out. Another choice would be Terani’s 95220. It too has a sweetheart neckline and flowing skirt. Remember you’re going for the overall effect and not always an exact duplicate.

Next, we'll look at what Fergie wore and how to get the same look.

New Softer Colors and Prints

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

One thing that stands out this year is the use of soft colors. You’ll still see the bold bright colors of red, blues, plus dramatic prints and animal prints but this year softer hues and patterns are clearly in this year.

Take a look at the La Femme’s white dress with soft flowery pattern that flanks the top and bottom of the dress (14646 - the first dress below). Or Terani’s 95186 short cocktail dress with bubble skirt and playful floral pattern (2nd dress below). Two different styles and dress patterns but softer than the bolder designers we have seen quite often.

Don’t over look these styles if you’re looking for something a bit fashion forward. Against the many shades of red, black and animal print you’ll stand out in something that is fun and fresh. These lighter colors are excellent for the start of spring and will look fun on most any complexion.

Here’s just a few examples from La Femme, Jovani and Terani all of which can be seen at Distinctions in Fashion.
